Scarlett had her Yahoo eyeball – how to keep away from it incident to you

Vanity Fair wrap of  Scarlett Johansson has been chatting to Vanity Fair magazine about her new nude photo scandal that saw private photographs of the starlet in print on the internet after her Yahoo email account was allegedly hacked.

Trying to make the best of a awful situation, Johansson tell the magazine’s December subject that the photographs were prospect for her ex-husband Ryan Reynolds and said “I be acquainted with my best angles. They were sent to my husband. There’s not no matter which wrong with that. It’s not like I was shooting a porno. Although there’s not anything wrong with that also.”

It is claim that Johansson, and a horde of other female celebrities, had their electronic mail accounts broken into by Christopher Chaney from Jacksonville, Florida. Chaney is alleged to have broken into Apple, Gmail and Yahoo accounts belong to female stars, and mechanically forward any email they received to an account beneath his own control.

35-year-old Chaney faces 26 charges, counting access computer systems without authorization, wire tapping and identity theft. If convicted, he could face up to 121 years in prison. Chaney is said by the authorities to have offered the stolen salacious cloth to celebrity blogs, but no proof has been found that he made money from the system.

Yesterday, Chaney pleaded “not guilty” to the charges, sense that at trial is scheduled to begin in late December.

In the past, we’ve described how users of the Gmail email system can determine if someone has interfered with your account and is automatically in receipt of any messages that you are sent.

But what if you are a Yahoo user like Scarlett Johansson?

Well, aside from checking your Yahoo account’s mail forwarding settings to see if someone is sneakily being sent copies of your mail, there’s something even simpler you can do to avoid have your Yahoo mail forwarded.

Don’t pay for it!

Regular free Yahoo mail accounts, simply don’t let your email to be forwarded. The ultimate protection is to not have the facility at all!Sure, it’s a pain in the neck if you do want to forward your email, but is a God send if you’re worried about your account being hacked and a snooper being able to see every message you receive.

That’s $19.99 a year which – from the safety point of view – you might be very happy not to spend. 🙂

Salma Hayek’s email report is hacked

According to news, Hollywood actress Salma Hayek has fall victim to hackers, who have out of order into her email account and free images of her private infrastructure.

The actress, remember equally well for her Oscar-nominated role in the biopic of Frida Kahlo as her erotic snake-dancing presentation in “From Dusk Till Dawn”, had her Mobile Me account hacked after hackers rearrange her account password by properly entering her date or birth and guess her secret question (allegedly the name of her most famous film role).

As a result, the world knows particulars of what iPhone applications Salma Hayek has download from the Apple iTunes Store, when she has set to have her Japanese face massage, and that her billionaire French husband François-Henri Pinault pays her bills.

Of course, it’s value remembering that Salma Hayek is the injured party of a crime.

Maybe she did decide to defend her online email account with weak security that anybody with right of entry to Wikipedia could almost certainly bypass, but breaking into her Mobile Me account is still an offence.

The community should take this as a caution to be very careful about what “secret answers” they choose in case they need to ever reset their passwords. Too many people when they are asked “What was your mother’s maiden name?” or “Tell us the name of your favorite pet” choose to reply honestly with information that is a matter of public record, or can be found out by visiting their Face book profile.

My recommendation is if you’re asked to tell website what your mother’s name is, answer something unforgettable that no-one else will be able to guess, like “Xena Warrior Princess” or “Artichoke Sandwich”.

By the way, Salma Hayek isn’t the first shape in the public eye to have her email hacked. Watch this video: “Paris Hilton & Sarah Palin – what’s the connection?”.

‘Addiction’ drove Scarlett Johansson’s naked photograph hacker

Scarlett Johansson password Christopher Chaney, the man accuse of hacking into the email accounts of feminine celebrities, and scooping up their confidential messages and nude photos, has describe how his curiosity became an addiction.

35-year-old Chaney, from Jacksonville, Florida, was under arrest by the FBI earlier this week in connection with “Operation Hackerazzi”, an investigation into a series of high profile hacking incidents involving the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis and others. In an exclusive interview with CNN affiliate WAWS/WTEV, Chaney claim he does not bear in mind that the first celebrity he under attack was.

Victims identified in the FBI’s indictment include Scarlett Johansson, Mila Kunis, Christina Aguilera, Renee Olstead, and celebrity handbag fashionable Simone Harouche. Other victims are recognized purely by initials: B.P., J.A., L.B., L.S., D.F., and B.G.

Though, FBI agents are said to have recognized more than 50 victims whose financial records were illegally accessed by Chaney.

Chaney’s hacking escapade lasted from November 2010 until February this year, using openly obtainable information to reset passwords and gain right of entry to accounts. It’s alleged that once he had access to victims’ Gmail, Apple and Yahoo accounts, that Chaney could make contact with others via his victims’ online address book, and search the account for compromising information. The FBI claim that Chaney would also auto-forward any messages conventional by his victims to third party accounts under his own control. This meant he could read every email they received, even if passwords were reset.

Chaney told the TV station that he was full of remorse for his actions:

“I deeply apologize. I know what I did was probably one of the worst invasions of privacy someone could experience, and these people don’t have privacy to begin with. I was in that slither of privacy that they do have. And I have had six months to think about it and it eats at me.”

“When you are doing it you’re not thinking about what’s going on with who you are doing it to. Pure curiosity is how it started, and I wish it hadn’t.”Christopher Chaney says that he was “pretty stupid” and plans to plead guilty. He says that he know what he did was wrong. However, he denies that he had any financial motive, and claims that he did not sell or release any of the images.

Which begs the question – how did nude photos of the likes of Scarlett Johansson end up freely available on the internet? Chaney says that others must have passed the images onto gossip websites, and that he was contacted by somebody who required to see the celebrities’ emails. However, he claims he did not share the information.

It’s unclear how this unnamed individual knew that Chaney had access to the personal communications.

Another question occurs to me – didn’t the celeb gossip websites which published the photographs do something wrong too? They surely know that photos of Scarlett Johansson topless and the like were likely to be stolen property, and yet they went ahead and published them regardless. One wonders if they will suffer any sentence for their part in this sordid story.

Consequently, Mila Kunis, if it wasn’t your phone so as to was hacked..

Mila Knishes kerfuffle about the veer of celebrities who have had their phones it seems that hacked and naked photos bare on the internet continues. But now one of the celebrities denies that her phone was hacked at all. But that doesn’t mean that they were a unblemished example of computer security…Past victims of alleged phone hacking have built-in stars such as Scarlett Johansson, Christina Aguilera, Lady Gaga, Miley Cyrus and High School Musical’s Vanessa Hudgens.

Most lately, however, Mila Kunis and Justin Timberlake have establish themselves in the spotlight, with reports that her phone was hacked, and her “associates with benefits” co-star Timberlake was pictured semi-nude lying on a bed and wearing some pink underwear on his head. In the meantime, images of Miss Kunis lying in the bath and a close part of an nameless man were said to be in flow, along with what were said to be private SMS book messages between Kunis and Timberlake.

However, according to a statement issued on behalf of Justin Timberlake and Mila Kunis – the actress’s phone was not hacked. “The media’s tentative nature of this story and its persistence that there is any inappropriate communication between the two parties is entirely false,”

“At no time did Mr. Timberlake and Ms. Kunis exchange unsuitable texts or emails. We would like to verify that the photo addressed in the media of Ms. Kunis was in fact not from any phone but from an inactive email account that has not existed in 3 years. In regard to the other photos in question, they were never exchange between the two parties.”

“We are at present working with the establishment on this matter and will take the good legal action required.” Mila Kunis and Justin TimberlakeKunis and Timberlake have deprived of being in a relationship since rumors began to emerge about an affair during the making of their movie “Friends with benefits”.

I have no idea if Kunis and Timberlake have been snogging, or if they’re been sending each other flirty text messages or photographs. obviously they’re saying that hasn’t happened. But the above statement does suggest that the picture of Kunis in the bath is legitimate, and was grabbed by a hacker from an “inactive email account”.

Whoever owned that email account (and a fair supposition would be that it is Kunis, or someone close to her) was clearly not practicing safe computing. If you leave an email account to wither and die, it might be best to clear out any surplus emails first and wipe any personal information.

Ideally the email account would be erasing in its total if you’re not planning to use it anymore. Otherwise, you might be leaving a tempting treasure chest for a celeb-obsessed hacker to break into, while you attention is unfocused elsewhere. At the very least, ensure that an email account is using a unique, hard-to-crack password for heaven’s sake.

There’s still much more to this celebrity nude photo hack story to come out, and it will be attractive to hear if the FBI manage to identify who is responsible, and how it is that cybercriminals are receiving their hands on so much personal compromise material.

In the meantime, celebrity websites might be wise to keep in mind that if they issue photographs that have been hacked from the phones or email accounts of celebrities they are, effectively, handling stolen goods… and commit a crime themselves.

Julianne Hough leaked photos published subsequent to phone hack

Julianne Hough is famous in the United States not now for being an actress and country music singer, and dating “American Idol” host Ryan Seacrest, but also for having won ABC’s “Dancing with the stars” TV show two times.

So, barely the kind of woman who you would think would require resorting to a cheap publicity stunt to raise her profile.

But no hesitation there are skeptics who are right now wonder if the news that her mobile phone was “hacked” and one hundred of her confidential photographs published on the net is not anything more than a way of gaining attention.

Since she surely is getting notice from various showbiz websites – with some flagrantly republishing photographs which are most probably stolen property with headlines like

Julianne Hough Gets Hacked – Check Out Her Sexy Bikini & Cleavage Shots!

There’s nothing chiefly salacious to be establish in the photos that have been in print – Julianne has a standing for being a “good girl” – but clearly the photos of her posing in her bikini and sunbathing were intended for her eyes only (or at least hers and perhaps Ryan Seacrest’s). Those eager for titillating images of the dancer topless or doing a watusi with Ryan Seacrest will be mightily disappointed.

iPhoneA quick check of Miss Hough’s Twitter feed reveal that she usually posts messages from her Apple iPhone.

It’s unclear how photos would have been stolen from the iPhone, if not an important person else had physical right of entry to the device, to a computer the iPhone had been synched with, or if the photos had been uploaded to the net in some way (in the case of the latter it’s not really a phone hack is it?)

Yet, there’s some very simple advice I can give to any promising starlet who might be worried about Yprivate photos of themselves leaking into the public.

Malware attack poses as bloody photos of Gaddafi’s death

Gaddafi The bereavement of Libyan dictator Colonel Gaddafi has almost unavoidably resulted in cybercriminals captivating advantage of the news story, and the universal public’s apparent interest in viewing ghoulish photos and videos of his previous moments.

Malicious hackers have spammed out an attack posing as pictures of Gaddafi’s death, trick users into believe that they came from the AFP news agency and are life form forwarded by a fellow internet user.

A typical message looks like this:

Subject: Fw: AFP Photo News: Bloody Photos: Libya dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s Death

Message body:

Libya dictator Moammar Gadhafi’s Death

Libyan dictator Moammar Gadhafi, the most required man in the world, has been killed, the country’s rebel government claim Oct. 20. The flamboyant oppressors who terrorize his country and much of the world during his 42 years of despotic rule was cornered by insurgents in the town of Sirte, where Gadhafi had been natural and a stranglehold of his supporters.

Windows computer users who decompress the emotionally involved file are put their PCs at risk of infection. The RAR archive file creates a malicious file called:

Bloody Photos_Gadhafi_Death\Gadhafi?rar.scr

Although there has been much conjecture in the media about the option of Gaddafi-related malware attacks and scams, this is the first one that I’ve seen since the death of Gaddafi made news headlines around the world the past.

Internet users would be wise to keep in mind to be very cautious about the links they click on, and to be suspicious of unsolicited attachment.

Johnny Depp has NOT died in a car crash, but hackers utilize rumours

Hollywood film actor Johnny Depp, well-known for his role in Edward Scissor hands, Sleepy Hollow and Pirates of the Caribbean, becomes the unsuspecting star of an internet hoax which increase extensively this weekend.

Blameless internet user were fooled by the hoax, dispersal messages to their online friends that the popular film star, who lives in France with his partner Vanessa Paradis, had come to a sad end at the side of a road in Bordeaux. The bogus information claim that the 46-year-old actor had die in a drunken car crash, often connecting to a webpage which apparently restricted a CNN news report, including a photograph of the wreckage.

Though, the webpage (despite appearance to the casual browser) wasn’t in fact on CNN’s website at all.

Fraction of the report reads:

Johnny Depp’s car was found alongside a road exterior Bordeaux, France, with the protector rail entrenched deep in the car.

A tourist was heavy downward the road when he saw a car wreck alongside the road. He step out and try to see if anybody was in there as his wife dialed the police for help.

To his disappointment, he found the body in the car among liquor bottles.

The police arrived at the scene shortly after and pulled out the body of the former actor, Johnny Depp.

Many people forwarded on messages about Depp’s death making “Johnny Depp RIP” a trending topic on Twitter, which helped to fuel the rumour and spread it even further and faster. The only problem was, inevitably, that the people hadn’t checked their facts before passing on the news. Johnny Depp, I’m delighted to report, hasn’t died in a car crash. In addition, as you can see in the video below, hackers have taken advantage of the situation – spreading malware on sites claiming to contain footage of Johnny Depp’s car crash

Eddie Murphy deceased Reports guide original Celebrity Death Hoaxes

Eddie Murphy dead reports the past were hard to believe. The Eddie Murphy dead rumor was rapidly debunk during one of the busier days of debunking celebrity death reports.

The Internet kills off tons of celebrities at any given time, but the death mill had been calm over the last few months. It was invigorated when they incorrectly reported Aretha Franklin had died, but it was just the start. Not only was Murphy dead by Internet hoaxes the past, so were Owen Wilson, Charlie Sheen and Adam Sandler this week.

In the case of all these actors/comedians, they were all reported to have died from snowboarding accidents. These days, the hoaxes can’t even be distinctive anymore, as they are both untrue and unoriginal. The rumors that Wilson and Murphy had died broke yesterday; right after the theoretical death of Aretha Franklin was debunked. Sheen and Sandler also had to show they were still alive this week as well. It has been a while since so many famous people died online, but the death mill is making up for its break now.

Many populace have been kill more than once online yet always handle to come back to be digitally killed again. It seems that, the Internet believes they cannot snowboard, as Murphy, Wilson, Sandler and Sheen were all killed off at Switzerland’s Zermatt Ski Resort.

It’s unclear why the Eddie Murphy hoaxes, and all the other ones, are taking place now. It had been a long time since the Internet killed off this many celebrities, but it seems it is ending the year with a bang. Since so many of them were supposedly killed from snowboarding, this would be the ideal time of year to make that stick.

In Murphy’s case, his representative had to emerge and confirm he was still alive. The star doesn’t often make the publicity rounds himself, and has no new movies to promote at the moment. So since he usually avoids the tabloid eye nowadays, the hoaxers likely thought it would be easier to get away with their rumors.Instead, the Estory went away quickly, like the ones that killed Wilson, Sandler, Sheen and Franklin. Claiming that Sheen and Franklin died fooled more people, given Sheen’s lifestyle and Franklin’s current illness. Yet since the three comedians in the bunch have no such problems – presumably – it was easier to debunk their demises.

Given the rash of fake celebrity deaths lately, it stands to wonder who will be killed off today and tomorrow. Since they already said Murphy was dead, the pranksters have to pick other icons – but that hasn’t been a problem for them.

Bill Cosby Death Hoax Peaks once more nowadays on Twitter

So far one more celebrity death hoax strike the internet and as a trending topic on Twitter. Go figure. So far this year Bill Cosby has died three, four, and five times, so they say on Twitter.

According to the hoaxers, he died in February, March and August of 2010. However, Bill Cosby also died in February and March of 2009. One tweet posted dates of Bill Cosby’s death hoax being March 29, 2007, April 1, 2007, June 23, 2009, and today, August 2, 2010.

After doing a Google look for for Bill Cosby Died, I found he died, March 24 and 25, 2010, and July 25, 2010. Including today’s Twitter trend, Bill Cosby has died at least 5 times in 2010.

Currently there are moreover a lot of Bill Cosbys in the world or an important person like to get off on live such a sick prank. Since I did the Google of Bill Cosby, the actor and comic is the only one that has came up as any orientation to a Bill Cosby dying.

Though the hoax of Bill Cosby’s death hasn’t hit Google trends as of 2:47 P.M. CST. Since I have heard nil on the news, CNN, Fox, or otherwise, Bill Cosby is still alive, kicking, and cracking jokes at the age of 73.

As citing my source for this article, I went back to Twitter for the “Bill Cosby Died” link. Another Twitter tendency came up “Bill Cosby ain’t dead” showed as a Twitter trend.

So folks until you hear it on the news or read it in the paper, don’t believe Bill Cosby is dead.

Gordon Ramsay claim spyware used to hack into his email

Gordon Ramsay, the continually cussing celebrity chef who has won 12 Michelin stars, is suing members of his wife’s family next claims that they used spyware to hack into his individual and company emails.

Chris Hutcheson, the father of Ramsay’s wife Tana, was sacked as managing director of the dirty-mouthed dough puncher’s restaurant empire previous October, amid a blizzard of accusations from together sides.

According to media reports, Ramsay’s High Court summons claims that, with the assist of an IT specialist called Kevin Fung, Hucheson and other members of his family stole passwords with key logging spyware, and used them to right to use secret emails.

Hmm… I wonder if Ramsay had a four-letter password.

It is more claims that Jennifer Aves-Eliott, Gordon Ramsay’s individual assistant, was also under attack – with spyware capture 1,868 snapshots of what was appear on her computer screen.

Gordon Ramsay assets confirmed last November that 46-year-old Fung, from Leyton, East London, had been balanced from his post at the company pending an IT investigation.

It doesn’t noise to me like this is leaving to be a family feud that is ever going to be patched up.

If you desire your own individual and business life to turn out to be less unattractive than Gordon Ramsay’s, then one thing I would suggest is ensure that you and your staff are on their guard against malware attack, and keep your suspicion up-to-date.c
